LUCY QUILT IS A FINISH and A NEW QUILT PROJECT

Hi

Sorry I have been MIA :-(

With this spring weather we have been having we have been busy tending to the gardens .

I do have good news to share with you ... I finished sewing the binding on my LUCY quilt last night !

Here is hubby hanging it from the front porch

Now to start a new project today... a baby quilt for my grandson who will be here July 8
The fabric I am using is  " IN THE OCEAN by RILEY BLAKE .

I have my fabric layed out the way I like it so far..

My idea is to appliqué 2 whales in the white section in the middle of the quilt. I am going to make my 2 appliqué whales first to see how they look and see if I should maybe make the white center bigger then I will sew it together today. I have 8 white  5" squares so far when I decide on the size I want I plan on cutting 1 white piece of fabric and not use the squares .
I would like it to look like the whales are swimming across the middle of the quilt :-D

These are the Whale  appliqués I am using and  the fabrics I have chosen to use .

This cute whale fabric is what I am going to use for the backing .

This is going to be a fun quilt to make...

Happy Sewing !!!!

Lucy is Home

Look what came in the mail this week !!!

Lucy is quilted and arrived here this week and I LOVE IT !!!

Mary of Quilt Hollow  did a amazing job custom quilted my quilt for me.
This is  her own original design :-D

The Spider webs are just perfect . Just look at the back of the quilt .

I have ordered a black fabric named American Gothic for the binding . I used this line fabric for the
black fabric in my quilt.

It has been a busy week here.  I did finish sewing the binding on my Autumn woods quilt and yesterday I quilted the baby quilt I was working on and have my binding sewn on , now just need to hand sew the binding while watching TV at night. So it has been a very productive week :-)

The weather has been gorgeous here and is expected to be 80 here this weekend .

Hope everyone has a great weekend !

HAPPY SEWING ....

HAPPY MARCH !!!

Wishing everyone a Happy March !!

This little  gal is a block from my Calendar Girls Quilt . Just love how  her scarf is blowing in the wind

My  finished sewing the binding on my Very Merry Christmas  Quilt and just finished sewing the Snowman quilt label together. Just need to add some eyes and date. Then I can call this quilt a finish.

I also completed sewing on my binding for Autumn Woods by machine so no I can hand sew the binding on at night .

I also made 4 of this 10" mini design boards that I have been wanting to make for sometime now
And of course I had to use leftover French General fabric that I had in my stash .
I plan on making more .   These design boards are really going to come in handy :-D
The design boards I made are from a tutorial that LORI HOLT HAS

So with this projects almost completed I plan on laying out the baby quilt and get that sandwiched together . Hopefully I will get that quilted today and check that off my list .

Smoky has been keeping me company in the sewing room. She is such a sweetheart :-D

This is a picture I took one morning in Downtown Grass Valley while we were having breakfast.
Just love the history of this gold country town

Happy Sewing !
